Misconception
.............. About Vegetarianism

The first thing that comes to peoples mind when they hear the words "Vegetarian" is that these
are the people who eats vegetables and all icky and slimy things they can think about.

But really, it isn't true at all. For all you know you might be a vegetarian yourself. At least at a certain level. There are different kinds of vegans and its a matter of choice and belief of what you eat and not.

Let me begin by sharing my story and how I became demi-vegetarian.

I lived with my Grandmother for the longest time I can remember and she does not eat pork or beef (red meat) to
maintain her health. And certainly since I was kid I was used to eating what she served. We also live in Baguio
where there's an abundance of vegetables which are both fresh and affordable.

Given those, I was used to the taste of vegetables. I love chicken joy like every other kid and ofcourse I do go to McDonalds and Jollibee for their burgers and hotdog sandwiches. Specially when I went to high school
which was farther to our house.

In Elementary I can still eat grilled pork.
By High School I stopped eating that and resulted to hotdogs and burgers.

In college I have unknowingly lessened hotdogs and burgers. Increased my sweet intake probably.
And when I started working at age 21 my pallete seemed to change and I loved wheat breads, pestos, fruitshakes and the more that I loved greens.

I then realized that I don't eat the way most of my colleagues at work does. I cannot imagine myself eating lechon or pork chop (typing this even makes me gag). And so that was the time that I have researched about vegetarianism. I also noticed that when people in Baguio goes to famous restaurants of grilled stuff like barbeque, I'd prefer to go to the following restaurants who serves vegetarian meals.

So to clarify things here are some information about the levels of Vegetarianism.

Octo-Lacto Vegetarian (The most popular definition, also known as Ovo-Lacto)
Vegetarians eat no red meat, poultry, fish, or products that have ingredients which are animal-based such as Gelatine. They do eat Vegetarian cheese, yoghurt, milk, eggs, honey etc. They also don't wear leather or fur.

Lacto Vegetarian
Lactose-Vegetarians do not eat any foods that involve the slaughter of animals. They don't eat eggs, but do eat Vegetarian cheese, yoghurt, and milk.

Vegans

Vegans do not eat the same things as vegetarians but also will not eat any product that is derived from animals. No meat, cheese, butter, milk, eggs or honey.
Demi-Vegetarian (commonly misinterpreted as Vegetarian by meat-eaters)
Demi-Vegetarians don't eat red meat or poultry, but they do eat fish, eggs, Vegetarian cheese, and milk-based products. This is not true Vegetarianism, although it is probably easiest for those just starting to become Veggie.

Fruitarian
A Fruitarian is somebody who believes that you should not kill any living thing to survive. Instead, they can only eat the fruit of plants that don't actually mean death to the plant. This is actually true believe it or not!

Here are some photos for Bliss Cafe, O Mai Khan and Oh My Gulay restaurants in Baguio. And yes ofcourse
how can I forget mother's garden. In case you would like to check them out if you're in the city of Pines.

Oreo Goodness

As a Healthy Eater and a former-Sweets lover
Oreo has been one of my favorites. Well now even if I'm taking Metformin for maintainance
and sugar reasons I must say I still love Oreo.

So here's a lovely tale about Oreo while I dream of Oreo Strawberries and Oreo Alfahor.

1  100th Birthday: March 6, 2012

2  Birth year: 1912—the same year the South Pole was discovered,  and the Titanic sank.

3  First sale: The first Oreo cookie was sold in Hoboken, NJ, where Oreo was originally packaged in bulk tins and sold by weight. Back then, grocers paid USD $0.30 cents/pound for Oreo.

4  Namesakes: Oreo has a street named after it – Oreo Way – formerly known as West 15th Street between 9th & 10 Avenues in New York City where the first Oreo cookie was made at the original Nabisco bakery.

5  1996: The year Oreo was introduced in China.

6  Twist, Lick, Dunk Ritual: 50 percent of all Oreo eaters pull apart their cookies before eating, with women twisting them open more often than men.

7  Yummy flavors they have abroad:
United States: Triple Double Oreo, Oreo Fudge Cremes: Peanut Butter and Golden, Double Stuf Oreo Heads or Tails

China: Oreo green tea ice cream (Oreo cookie with green tea ice cream flavor creme with a cooling sensation that simulates ice cream) and Oreo wafers

Argentina:
Oreo "x3" (pronounced "Por Tres") cookie: three layers of cookie, and two layers of creme.

Oreo Duo: cookie with a layer of creme featuring two complementary "half and half" flavors with two varieties: strawberry and vanilla, banana and dulce de leche.

Oreo Alfajor: Three layers of Oreo cookie and crème covered inchocolate in the form of a traditional Argentine snack cake.

Mexico: Oreo Trio Chocolate: three different chocolates in the same Oreo, one per each cookie and a thin the crème; Oreo Cookies & Creme, Oreo Dark Fudge, and Oreo White Fudge.

Crowne Plaza Galleria
Sometimes Travel can be as convenient as a backyard camping.

No matter how much we try... The Goal here is to really have fun, explore and relax!

In this case travel can just mean a hotel room, the adjacent mall and cupcakes.

And to vanity, a camera is always handy.

My models: Sister - Jannuine and Cousin - Regine.

My Friend Ghie baked this cupcakes. Check her website at

She also gave us candles so we lit them up!

Where was I?

I was either taking the picture or enjoying the sheets.

Yes, My engagement ring as highlight.

Tips on Hotel Stay Escapades:

1. Search for a hotel that fits your budget but has the amenities you would like to enjoy. As for Crowne Plaza Galleria as shown in the pictures they have the swimming pool, restaurants, Jacuzzi and gym. ^ ^,.
They also have a sleep better program if that's what you need.

2. Have fun! Maximize and try out everything.

3. Check out their packages/ programs before you check in to maximize your stay. For this hotel for example all cakes and pastries are 70% off after 7pm. So you would not want to buy one a few minutes before that.

Coron, Palawan Philippines
A Birthday Pledge:

My friend, Maureen and I, having our birthdays a week a part decided to make a pact and travel each year to where we want to. And previously we went to Coron Palawan. The adventure was quick, challenging and breathtaking. I remember having the first day holding umbrellas for the rain which was wierd considering the place only experiences 1-2 typhoons in a year. What are the odds?! and the next I was holding on to my camera, shades with my sister posing in front of me for a bright ang shiny photos of hers.

Anyway here are some pictures.

                    My Sister and Maureen

Me, Maureen and my Dr. M boots under the rain when we arrived at the Busuanga Airport

We Stayed at Coron Village Lodge which served gigantic servings of great food
and we had a tour guide named Jojo who is so friendly,
doesn't want tip and knows Coron down to its history.

Yes this we're served on 1 meal and we had 2 big fishes, that big bowl of rice, sinigang, friend stuff as seen at the picture and yes even dessert. There's only 3 of us. And Coron Village Lodge is so affordable with all transports even the one from the airport, to boat rides, to entrance fees with all of 3 meals per day, with the tour guide included and ofcourse the accomodation I must say they are the best choice to go to when going to Coron.

We went to Maquinit Hot Springs on the first day which was relaxing but I heard its also good to come here at night after a trek to relax your tired muscles.

The Sun rose happily on the second day and so was I with my anti-mosquito bracelet
ready to roam around Coron with my game face on. ^ ^,

We went Shopping... (don't miss my sister being caught happy and excited on that mirror)

    Walking around...

And yes... no time to waste when you have fishes waiting to greet you on those clear waters.

We also manage to go to the market and rode their really cool tricycles.

We also enjoyed the night in Coron Village Lodge's Restaurant

        The place is just
so artsy it makes you want
to stay there and take pictures of each and every corner.

On the 3rd day... We made the most of our day before saying goodbye by too much soaking, snorkeling, swimming, sight-seeing and all words letter "S" because Coron is just SUPER!!!

this is me, with a fake and confuse look of leaving this beautiful Island.

Then decided to be happy to ride the plane with my adventures inside my pocket.

Everything in this trip was so nice even the clouds was making us feel great about it.

Reminders when going to Coron:

1. Wear rubber sandals when you go snorkeling, diving, etc... there are lot of sea urchins.
2. Wear an anti-mosquito bracelet like I did and bring anti-mosquitto repellants or something. The mosquitos in Kayangan lake are not dangerous but their bites are big and they're actually really big too.
3. An underwater Camera is a must-have.
4. Sunblock
5. Stretch before the treks
6. Enjoy the food. But if you're vegetarian like me, vegetables are expensive in Coron. They have more meat than greens so you may opt for chickens and fish. They preserve the mountains as it is so they don't do mass planting of vegetables to secure its beauty.
7. Take lots of photos and don't forget to bring home pasalubongs: Dried fishes, nuts, pearls, decors and a lot more.
